As you can see from my posts I am a big believer in liquid fuel lanterns manly Coleman's but I do own other brands and I do have a few battery types for quick back up use. In my home our back up light sources are battery lanterns and kerosene lamps most of which are antiques like these.
As far as which types use should use, well that's personal choice and I ran across this great article about this very thing so you may want to read it for someone else's point of view.
